About the city: Alcalá de Henares (Spanish pronunciation: [alkaˈla ðe eˈnaɾes]), meaning Citadel on the river Henares, is a Spanish city whose historical centre is one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. The city stands out for its rich archaeology and was one of the first bishoprics founded in Spain. Located in the Autonomous Community of Madrid, 35 kilometres (22 miles) northeast of the city of Madrid, at an altitude of 588 m (1,929 ft) above sea level, it has a population of around 200,000. Locally, the city is generally known simply as "Alcalá", but "de Henares" is appended when needed to differentiate it from a dozen Spanish cities sharing the name Alcalá (from the Arabic word al-qal'a القلعة for fortification or citadel). The Latin name, Complutum, is sometimes used. The city is capital of its namesake region, Comarca de Alcalá.

About the city: Belmonte is a Spanish municipality of the province of Cuenca, in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. It is located at kilometer 342 of the N-420 road, which runs from Cuenca to Alcázar de San Juan, which is the same as that of Córdoba to Tarragona. The excavations carried out in the Collegiate Church in 1976 due to the sinking of part of the apse, exposed the ruins of an earlier Visigothic church, perhaps of the fifth century, which proves that the population is older than imagined. Erroneously in some documents it appears with the name of "The Huts", when it turns out that from always it was called Bellomonte. Erroneously in some documents it appears with the name of "The Huts", when it turns out that from always it was called Bellomonte. In the Bull of Pope Innocent III a Garcia bishop of Cuenca called Bellomonte, because of the mountain that surrounded the town. In 1294 it appears in the book of accounts of the king Sancho IV between the towns in which currency was collected to pay to the gentlemen who had to accompany Don Juan Manuel, the future Prince of Villena, to the land of Murcia. In 1323 begins to gain historical importance, because in the Chronicon domini Joannis Enmanuelis, says that in 1323 Don Juan Manuel (nephew of Alfonso X) began to build the walls of "Belmont" and at the same time built the Old Alcázar. The first member of the Pacheco family who was lord of this town was Juan Fernández Pacheco, who was granted by King Enrique III by privilege signed in Tordesillas on May 16, 1398, giving as reason "for being a person of great importance for war". The lordship was inherited by his daughter María, who married Alfonso Téllez Girón and Vázquez de Acuña. The couple had two children, Juan Pacheco and Pedro Girón (who were born in Belmonte). He inherited the manor Pedro Girón. The first-born was Juan Pacheco, first Marquis of Villena, who ordered the construction of the Belmonte Castle in 1456 and the Collegiate Church of San Bartolomé on the same dates as the castle. Between the XV and XVIII centuries, Belmonte had its golden age of which numerous buildings are conserved.

About the city: Ciudad Real is a city in Castilla-La Mancha, and capital of the province of La Mancha, made famous by Cervantes. The territory is famous for its castles and for historical and architectural treasures such as Villanueva de los Infantes and Almagro. This last town is particularly well-known for its 17th-century Corral de Comedias theatre, which every year plays host to the International Classical Theatre Festival. Windmills are another of the symbols of Ciudad Real, as the province is the scene of the adventures of the famous knight Don Quixote of La Mancha in the famous work by Miguel de Cervantes. The local gastronomy reflects the fact that Ciudad Real is one of the areas on the La Mancha Wine Route, so this is an excellent opportunity to sample the wines from the Valdepeñas Designation of Origin.

About the city: Toledo flourished in the medieval era during the peaceful coexistence of Christians, Muslims and Jews. This fact has left behind a dignified and slightly mystical walled city. Toledo’s monuments crowd together in a dizzying anarchy of periods and styles, held together in a medieval matrix of sagging houses, churches, synagogues, and mosques. The city that El Greco portrayed in a few of his rare landscapes has changed little over the years. Surrounded by Rio Tajo, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and is one of Spain’s most visited cities. Artifacts of Christian, Muslim and Jewish origin continue to complement one another in this city, often within the same building. The cathedral is a complex banquet of architectural and artistic styles. Two synagogues, Sinagoga del Tránsito and Sinagoga de Santa Maria la Blanca, and a museum, the Museo Sefardi, are all that remain of what was once the largest Jewish community in Spain. Reminders of the Muslim presence are visible near the Puerta del Sol a 14th century Mudéjar gate and the 10th century mosque, Mezquita del Cristo de la Luz. The legends and traditions of Toledo seem to come alive at sunset. Visitors can explore the city’s mysterious medieval atmosphere walking through its narrow streets in one of the many night tours organized throughout the city. It is a fascinating experience that will transport travellers to another era.
